The more I read about government intervention in business, the more I know we need to retire most of the current members of Congress and get some people who have a clue in there … and that goes for the administration as well. Really … now we have a bunch of people including the President who have never run anything or produced anything except convoluted legislation telling industry how to operate?
As I read the comments from Townhall, I could only shake my head. So they want to give me a “clunker” bonus to encourage me to trade in my 13 year old Jimmy. Are they also going to give me money to pay for a new car?
This is either bizarro world or the beginning of 1984 … I can’t decide which.
I cannot help but be amused when I read something like was posted today at Musclehead Revolution. If most of the media and conservative groups hadn’t been such muscleheads (for lack of a less polite word), we wouldn’t be in the mess we are today. IMO
But I guess it is better late than never … get on board!

I tell you, I never thought reading the news could be comical, but I laughed maniacally when I read the following article: EPA Says Farm Dust Requires Regulation.
That is so bizarre that I am left nearly speechless and could only shake my head in disbelief. Things like regulating dust on farms and taxing for methane gas produced by farm herds could only be dreamed up by science fiction writers or federal legislators. One wonders how the wizards in Congress and the EPA think they are going to eat if they keep up with their silliness.
I know … they can import some of those really healthy foodstuffs from China.
Last week, while all the news media was talking about the new budget, the Obama administration took steps to abolish the “conscience rule” with relation to abortion. This rule has allowed professionals who object to abortion on moral grounds to opt out of participation in such procedures. Pretty sneaky, if you ask me. Another one slides under the radar, even if the media were disposed to cover it.
Not all outlets have ignored it, but the mainstream certainly did. The proposed rule allows 30 days for objections. Again, really sneaky since most people didn’t even know that it was done. Cal Thomas wrote his objection in his article Guilty Consciences. Once again I will make a (probably fruitless) effort by writing the MN Congress persons.
You can help by participating in Red Envelope Day. The suggested date to send envelopes is March 31st, but I am not waiting as I want to be sure mine arrive before the 30-day expiration of the above time for objections. I’m sending to the White House, to all my states representatives and senators and to the secretary elect of Health & Human Services … I suggest anyone do the same and do it now. I’m also sending to several news outlets in the (probably vain) hope that they will cover it.
In the late 60s or early 70s, Richard Nixon began talking about the silent majority … those people who did not march in protest, take over college campuses, riot in the streets. He implied that these people cared as much as the protesters about America and the direction we were going, but that they supported the government. And that they supported him.
He was right about the existence of a silent majority and wrong about what they felt. They are still here and they are still just as concerned about the direction of America. And there is a new dimension to their lives today … fear. They see an economy in a downward spiral. They see their savings eroding. Many are in fear of losing their jobs. Many have already lost them. They see everything they have worked their whole lives to attain in jeopardy. These are people who have always played by the rules. They work hard. They pay their bills. They obey the laws of the land. And more and more, they see a government that does not represent them, does not respect them except when its representatives want their votes and thinks it is perfectly acceptable to take from them.
And they are beginning to stir. Last Thursday, the 26th of February, many of them met in gatherings across the country. And many more went out in support of “Tea Parties” on Friday. I’m glad to see it. I hope they will be silent no more. I hope they can see what can happen when they sit silently on the sidelines. And I will join them.
But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. (Matthew 6:6, ESV)
