I really like my Mac Mini … I really hate the software on my Mac Mini. Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Office are all PowerPC applications which work on the Core Solo Mini, but work because they are rendered through Rosetta. And they are slow as mud. If you have Photoshop, you know it is slow loading anyway. Imagine it loading at about ¼ the speed. I’m frustrated!
And it’s not that I can’t learn new tricks … I’m just not sure how badly I want to. It’s a dilemma ….

Like a lot of people, I was offended by the comments at the UN by Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I’m not normally a George Bush fan, but I applaud the administration for their restraint. I bet that was a huge disappointment to Chavez and Ahmadinejad? They probably hoped for people to riot and fill the streets with protest and burning flags. All they got was two of the biggest Bush-bashers coming out to condemn what they said. I’ll bet Bush was tickled that Charlie Rangel and Nancy Pelosi felt they had to support him.
Contrast that to the riots and demands for apology following the Pope’s quoting a 14th century Byzantine emperor? And then the refusal to accept an apology, saying that it wasn’t good enough?
More and more, I think we have stepped through the looking glass and down is up and up is down.

4 Best (Fill in your own category) Marches & Intro Themes

This category was an easy one to pick and hard to narrow down the songs. With kids in sports, we were often challenged to find good music for entrance marches. Andrea was in band for years, playing the clarinet and French Horn. And, of course, back in the day, playing Peter Gunn well was “the” standard for any band.

Finished:
- The Person of Christ by Donald MacLeod
- Exploring the New Testament: Volumes 1 & 2
- Why Government Can’t Save You – John MacArthur (re-read)
Reading:
- Above All Earthly Pow’rs: Christ in a Postmodern World – David Wells
- The Hard Sayings of Jesus – F. F. Bruce
- Paul, Apostle of God’s Glory in Christ – Thomas Schreiner
- Interpreting the Pauline Epistles – Thomas Schreiner
It seems like I should have finished more stuff in a month, but these are some large and weighty tomes!
I read Why Govenment Can’t Save You back in 2000, but wanted to share it with a friend and couldn’t resist reading through it again. My friend really enjoyed the book and said it gave her a new viewpoint on the relationship of faith and government. We were talking about all the politicians ending their speeches with “God Bless America” and the fact that it has become a standard ending, which reminded me of another MacArthur book that I am going to share with her, Can God Bless America? Very interesting insights and I will have to take a look at that one again. Fortunately, it is short and I can get through it without taking too much time from my current studies.
I am still working on my study of the Acts of the Apostles (I’m about 75% through it) and will start a study on Paul’s Epistles when I am done. I’m doing them in the order written, which is not the same as the order of placement in the Bible. That’s why I am currently reading the Schreiner books. I hope to finish the Acts study by the end of the month. I’ve worked on it for a long time, but it has been worthwhile.
There are a couple of new books coming out this month that I might get. Maybe I will even read a novel!

I’ve been strugglling with what I should say or if I should say anything about the events yesterday. Thank you Rachel, for the link you posted. This says much of what I was thinking: Bloggermann
One thing that bothered me was the re-run on CNN’s Pipeline of the entire day of coverage from 5 years ago. It’s not as if we haven’t seen those images over and over … I’m not sure why I was so offended, but it just seemed like voyeurism.
What I hated most about yesterday was seeing so many politicians trying to spin it to political advantage. Shame!

Asher at 8 weeks.
Steve is coming to the Twin Cities today. He just called and he’s about 20 minutes from my house. He did not bring Asher. I may refuse to answer the door.

I find myself being amused by the squirrel population. Fat Boy is still in evidence and is most insulted that we have not filled the bird feeder. I saw a black squirrel a few weeks ago and was momentarily freaked, thinking it might be a skunk. Most of the squirrels that inhabit our neighborhood are gray, but we have two red squirrels and they are the ones I find most fascinating.
They are very vocal. They also prefer to travel in the air … along the top of the fence, from tree to tree or across the utility wires. And they rule the roost … er, tree. Our neighbors have a tree that has fruit resembliing an olive. The squirrels are working hard to gather all the fruit. The little red ones are half the size of the grays, but refuse to share the tree when they are up there. It is funny to see them chase the bigger ones away … especially funny to see Fat Boy, who is the tyrant of the grays, turning tail and running from the little red squirrels.
I am easily amused these days.

Asher came to visit and his dad brought two flash cards full of pictures for me. I will probably post one if I can ever decide which one is the cutest! I don’t want to get carried away though I easily could.
